Starters & Headers
I just put headers and dual exhaust on my truck. And the very next day the starter died.
I didnt have money for heat wrap for the starter when I put the headers in but I figured the starter could last a couple weeks until I got some. Can the heat from headers kill a starter this quick? Would having a starter from an automatic car in a truck with a maunal transmission have anything to do with it? I fit and worked fine in the truck. This was a rebuilt starter that was already several years old and had been sitting for a few years. Is it just a coincidence that it died when it did? I have another starter that I can put in it but I dont want to put it in without heat wrap then have it die again so soon. Next time I probably wont get lucky and be on a steep hill when it dies.
