Cutting up a brand new core support to repair an old one

I have a brand new core support for a 67 - 68 C10. The truck I bought it for dissolved into a bare frame(she was in very bad shape).

To fill the need I now have a 70C10. Core support is useless to me now.

Question: The only difference to a 67-68 support and a 69 - 70 support is the headlight location, so I can graciously hack up the brand new core support to repair the stock 70 support. Right I would believe?

The 70 has rust through under the batt tray and antifreeze overflow area. The other half is in great shape.

So providing the metal is the same gauge I am willing to cut it.

If you have done this or have a way to compair the two, let me know what you find.

Thanks in advance guy's

::Wait a minute, I wonder if I could just slice off the headlight mounts and either replace or swap the two.

I'll be in the backyard - with a 1/2" wrench.....
