Driveshaft 1 pc or 2 pc?

I am working on my 67 SWB 2WD Pickup. I do not have the orig. driveshaft. It has a spot to bolt on a carrier bearing. Did all SWB 2WD Pickups have 2pc driveshafts? Since I am droping the rear 4"-6" it looks like I could remove the bracket that holds the carrier bearing and use a 1 pc driveshaft. Does this make sense or have I lost my mind?
