Finally found a 292
I've been searching for a 292 for my Panel for quite a while, and I finally found one last week. It's a basket case, but it don't seem to have any cracks in the usual places.
The bores mike out at .030 over, but I can't find anythind on the pistons that say they are oversized-but I havn't looked real close. The crank has .020 bearings. So I have a couple questions: How much can you grind the crank? And how muck can it be bored? One thing I thought was clever, the guy I bought it from had several motors in his shop, and they all were standing up on these: Some kind of furniture leg or something, with a nylon pad and 3/8 threads so it can screw right into the bell housing bolt holes. Makes it a breeze to slide it around on a shop floor without scratching up the floor. I need to get this block down to the machine shop and have it inspected before I make too many plans, but the general plan is to have a supercharged 292 in my Panel when it is complete.
