68 street machine

i`ve got a 68 stepside that i want to make a street machine out of. I want it to handle like it`s on rails and have around 400 hp. I`m thinking about an ls1 with a 6-speed(my favorite motor and trans) because i can get that power out of it easy. what i`m not sure about is susention. I want to lower it 2 or 3 in the front same in the rear. not too low just for handling. I don`t know about the trailing arms. Should I keep them or what. Any info would be great
