Budget billet look-a-like grill for 71 and 72’s

Not sure if I have seen anybody do a thread on this cheap trick but here is a cheap way to make the grills of the 71 and 72 more interesting.

Remove the grill from the truck (PITA) then remove the bowtie. Cover all of the horizontal bars with ¼’ fine line tape then spray with black paint suitable for plastic. Remove the masking tape once the paint is dry and vala! A budget billet look-a-like grill appears. Cost less than $20 (the 1/4" tape is the most expensive part!)

Sure made the weather beaten grill in the ole beater look better. Applying fresh paint around the headlight bezels while you are at it helps too.

I did this to my ’72 Blazer back in the early 90’s as well. Too bad this is the only picture I have of the grill.
