Smile Edelbrock Performer Intake?

I'am considering and Edlebrock Performer Intake and a mild Comp Cams Extreme Energy camshaft this winter to my 85 GMC which has a LE9 305ci engine.

My question regarding the Edelbrock intake manifold is will I lose and low and mid range torque by adding this manifold?

The reason I'am asking is articles in Super Chevy and Chevy Rumble magazines tested a similar intake from Weiand and showed a loss in torque on the bottom end.

My last question involves the dreaded ESC distributer should I keep it or should I get rid of it. I have a new Accel HEI which is still in the box which I purchesad from a friend of mine for $100.

Thanks Rob

Please help me out guys I'am really frying my brain on the ESC distributer question.
