Easy no-hack hidden kill switch
I hope I am not borrowing someone elses' idea, but I was trying to fix two problems at once last night and came up with this:
1. How to fill in the "choke" hole in my dash cluster with something that looks good since I replaced the carburator with an electric choke version. 2. Install a hidden kill switch without hacking into the new wiring harness. Here's what I did - Took an old windshield wiper switch and new knob/bezel, cut two splices (10" and 18") and installed three female and and one spade connectors. Disconnected one of the neutral safety switch leads and installed the short lead between it and the wiper switch. Ran the longer of the two from the wiper switch back to the neutral safety switch. Installed the wiper switch/bezel into the dash. The far left position is the run position but anything else will prevent starting. It's hidden in plain sight and looks pretty good. I will probably go back and modify it to use a relay since I am not sure if the switch can handle the amperage, but the concept will remain the same. Last edited by soule64; 02-27-2009 at 02:10 PM.
