Thumbs down This just ain't right........

My '72 LB work truck, 250, 3 on the tree:
I finally put the new rad & heater core in halfway thru the winter. It was really nice actually seeing thru the windshield and having heat. So I go out to to start it during the last deep freeze & it's smoking & missing bad....i'm thinking carb. After about 4-5 min of trying to keep it running it dies. When I get out I see where it blew oil all over the ground out of the exhaust.........a lot of oil.....RATS!
I haven't pulled the head yet, but my guess is I need a re-build. On a positive note I hope to do this one myself so at least I hope to gain knowledge out of frustration............
