dumb radio?

ok heres my problem. 86 chevy 3/4 ton.2wd with 3" body lift.When I bought the truck radio had alot of static.So I changed the antenna,nothing changed,swapped out speakers,still static.Pulled the sony out of my vw bug that was working great.Put it in the truck STATIC!Tried 3 diffrent antennas ,still static.The wiring on this truck is hacked,so I ran a new power wire straight to the battery and a ground wire to the bottom of the dash,same thing.Found the ground stap from body to engine off made a new from firewall to engine and 1 from body to the frame.Same problem.ANY IDEAS???Thanks
