Just traded an old CJ for a 70 C10
Hey there everybody, I just picked up a 70 C10 in trade for my 1980 CJ7. Well...it was kinda a CJ7. Here is a good pic of my CJ off having fun
Anyway, I over built the CJ for my needs. It had a negative caster angle which made it a bear to drive over about 10 mph. Everytime offroad I would break something and eventually I got tired of fixing stuff. The straw the broke the camels back was having to replace the flexplate as a result of stripping all the teeth off it. So my CJ sat parked for a couple years and I put up some adds to sell it. Anyway, it finally found a new home and I ended up with a 70 C10 in trade for it (even up trade). And here is the new truck! This is bad as the visible rust gets! Luckily, the truck spent 20 years in TX, 10 in a barn in Indiana and only 5 year outside! And lastly, one of the interior The engine has been swapped to a 305 from an ~84 Camero, it runs pretty solid, its been switched to an Edelbrock 4 barrel and has a nice HEI system. So I have a few issues to fix: -the radiator leaks -there is 1 body mount on the cab which is pretty rough. Someone put about a 1/2" layer of bondo on the bed -the brakes feel bad, they don't really stop at all until the pedal is all the way at the floor. -the steering feels harder than manual steering should, I think I should be able to turn somewhat easily when the truck is rolling. -the wiring is a nightmare. Little stuff, the electric choke isn't hooked up, the fuel pump isn't fused, something is leaking pretty bad, the headlight switch has been pulled, the generator light comes on when the engine is turned off. A whole bunch of little issues to fix there. Anyway, I'll slowly start making a big long list of stuff to fix and get it all done, eventually... |
