Exclamation Check out this very custom 1970 Chevy C10

Sold for $93,500. With a 470hp, 502 cu. in. Chevrolet V8 engine, automatic transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs and stabilizer bar, live rear axle with custom coil springs, ladder bars and torque arms, four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 127".

The Chevrolet C10 Custom Truck offered here is a wonderful blend of classic styling and artful customization. Constructed by Mike Chrisman, Darwin “Squeak” White, and Steve Davis, names that require no introduction in California hot rodding circles, it features exacting craftsmanship and many details and features that are only apparent upon closer inspection.

Chrisman and White first set their sights on the original chassis, which they boxed and narrowed to accommodate the unusual wheel and tire combination, featuring dual rear wheels. Three tubular cross members were added, mounting the pickup points for the front and rear suspension and power train assemblies. The front suspension features custom-built shock absorbers, dropped spindles, modified A-arms, and an anti-sway bar. The result is a lower ride height with full suspension travel. Meanwhile, the rear suspension features a beautifully polished rear end and axle housing, along with coil springs and hand-fabricated ladder bars. Four-wheel disc brakes bring the truck to a rapid halt, and the fat radial tires are wrapped around six 16 x 8-inch Alcoa aluminum wheels.

The legendary Art Chrisman prepared the 502 cubic inch “Rat” motor, featuring a forged crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons. Induction is via a set of Edelbrock cylinder heads and an electronic fuel injection system prepared by AZ Speed & Marine. Hand-fabricated exhaust headers by Rod Sexton expel the spent gases. The result is a remarkable 515 foot-pounds of torque and 470 horsepower.

The radical bodywork was conducted by master fabricator Steve Davis and “Squeak” White. Davis applied his magic touch, seamlessly grafting late-model Chevrolet truck wheel wells to the existing bed, while White “chopped” the top, and hand-fabricated the custom grille and surrounds, headlight openings, among many other features.

Upon completion, and with fewer than 100 test miles traveled, this stunning creation was driven by Joe MacPherson and “Squeak” White on the 2,500-mile Hot Rod Power Tour, confirming its drivability, reliability, sound construction and execution. The subject of a feature article in Hot Rod Magazine, it remains an artful blend of classic styling, modern technology and masterful craftsmanship.
