Red Oak bed floor, how to brighten for refinish ?

Put a new red oak floor in the 68 with stainless strips about 4 years ago. Most of the finish is gone now and needs redone. A good power wash will remove the remaining finish, but the boards are starting to turn grey. Can you use the wood deck brightner with oxyalic acid to bring the color back before refinishing or is there something better ? The stuff works good on our cedar house deck but will it mess up the Oak ? Will it ruin the stainless strips or the paint on the box, chrome bumper or anything else ? Thanks.
