6.6L Duramax Modules/ Programmers

Just purchase a 2009 GMC 6.6l diesel. What are your thoughts on a programmer to increase HP and better fuel? I am looking for something simple and kind of a plug and play idea. And as always the best bang for your buckAny thoughts would be appreciated. Oh yes is it worth it to spend the cash when the truck brand new?
