Bizarre day in PA.

For no reason other than curiosity.

I was driving home from work today. Had never had any interest in stopping at this out of the way junkyard.

But I did. No I did not find a 6 mile original uncut mid 70s anything.. But I did stop in and ask if they had any mid 70s to 1980 Chevy pickup trucks as I have been trying to find a dash bezel and some other misc. interior trim pieces. Plus a good walk through a wrecking yard never hurts.

The man behind the counter said they had a few all the way at the back of the yard and I had an hour and 5 minutes before they closed.

I grabbed my boots and socket set from the bed and set out walking. There are approximately 4000 cars in this yard and it covers a LOT(read L0T of area) It was blowing about 40 MPH and the temp was a balmy 36 degrees.

Guys, I could not believe my eyes. I counted 37 pickups, 9 blazers and 5 Suburbans and that was in just one corner. Most of the hard to get bright stuff was long gone and being the great northeast the sheetmetal was mostly if not all junk. BUT, they have never taken glass from them just to take it and any glass sold was replaced with plastic or Haysite(tougher than glass locally manufactured flooring material)

A LOT and I mean a lot of instrument bezels, steering columns. etc. Most of the Blazers and Subs had center consoles and good bucket seat cores. I got a practically NOS looking dash bezel from a 1975 Silverado 25 with 40,000 one owner miles on it for the princely sum of 10 bucks and the dash trim was tossed in for free. woodgrain on both and Silverado emblem on dash trim are perfect. I had no phone or camera with me and I know this thread is worthless without pics. Just take a walk through a yard someday, you never know what you may find.
