New Guy From Maine
Hey, Just joined the site. I'm from Mount Desert, Maine. I have a couple GM trucks I have a 02 2500HD and an 07 6.5 Diesel. I also have a Suburban project I'm working on, Putting a 97 body on an 83 3/4 ton chassis. A guy traded me the 83 for a parts Jeep. The 83 burb was a 4x4 with a 4" lift, 33" tires, 4 speed, a crate 350 putting out about 400hp, and really bad paint. After looking for a truck to put the engine into for about a year I found the 97 burb for sale real cheap because it had lost reverse. It was fully loaded and in nice shape so I decided to do a body swap instead. Been kind of a slow going project, going to school and working full time in the summers, and doing the whole project in the parking lot at my parents business. I had hoped to find a 71 or 72 K20 for this engine to go into but couldn't find anything in my price range that wasn't mostly rust. Here's a couple pictures of my progress so far.
Day 1 about to start. Would have gone so much faster in a garage with a lift, instead I got to use a floor jack and pressure treated. Sitting on the 83 frame Looks like one truck again. It isn't moving yet, had to install a 3" body lift for the tires to clear the fenders while turning. Have the steering hooked up, and almost all the new body mounts made and put on, still have quite a way to go.
