Question 70 Short/Fleet 2 piece driveshaft ?

I’ve never seen this, is this a common option; a short wheel base ‘70 with a two piece drive shaft and “heavy duty rear springs”. I have several of these trucks, I purchased this one a few months back and after loading it on my car trailer it dawned on me that it had a center bearing and it wasn’t a long bed? The truck has the original 307, TH350 which were the only options other the rear springs and that wonderful OD green! I just traded the truck to a friend of mine who is going to start this weekend on it. I suggested that he keep the two piece drive shaft because I felt it was a novelty. Can anyone, weigh in on this? Pros/Cons? I do remember, from my days riding in the right seat of my dad’s 72 long box, hearing him comment that the “hanger bearing” was howling! The truck is in great shape for what it is, rusted where they all are but not nearly as bad as most. My friend is going to lower the truck 4 inches in the back, with springs. Comments please.
