Stuck in 4 Low!

Yesterday I was at my grandmas property getting parts and decided to try the 4 wheel drive out. I just installed a different SM465 and NP205 recently and figured Id try everything out. I have been driving it on the street for 3 weeks now and everything seems good. After playing around for about 5 minutes in 4 Low I tried to put the transfer case shifter back in 2 wheel drive but it was stuck. I put the truck back in gear and moved forward and tried again but the shifter was still stuck. I then put the truck in reverse and let the clutch out quickly. It then came out but was still hard to get it out. It acted like something was bound up. The shifter moves fine once its out of 4 Low. It did this last winter with the extremely wore out sm465/205 but I assumed it was cause the transfer case was wore out.
Has this happened to anybody else?
Is this acceptable on a used t.c., or is my newer transfer case worn too.
Im worried about it being stuck when Im 30 miles off the highway cutting firewood and only being able to drive 8-10 mph all the way home. Makes for a long ride. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
