Question about lowering - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Not that I really plan on doing it anytime soon, but I just might one of these days. Lower my truck that is.

The most I would want to do is a 2.5/4" drop (Like those sold from western chassis) But I have a question or two.

Besides the obvious labor of ripping apart the suspension, what extra work do I have to do? Like cutting the frame,bed or anything else?

What is the best way to support the truck while I do this work. Obviously the axle in the back isn't going to work, nor the control arms in the front - not that you should ever support your truck by the control arms. :p
