Fuel Gauge problems

Ok, i have read all the post on fuel gauge issues. Can somebody help me with the location of the fuel gauge resistor location, if you have pictures thats even better. So i was troubleshooting my problem and have come to the conculison my problem is resistor. the gauge was only reading 1/4 tank when full. when i put ground strap on tank gauge went to 3'oclock postion. Am i think right or wrong? please help thanks...
