Tach and temp gauges inop?

Any ideas? My truck has been running less then 2 weeks after sitting for almost 2 years. At first only the oil gauge worked, I assume the amp gauge works but it never really moves, and it seeems like it's charging ok. The fuel and speedo eventually started working after a few miles, just need to get the speedo accurate.

Anywho, the temp sender that was in it got smashed during install, not to the point that it came apart but it didn't work when I fired it up. Had NAPA get me a new one, I think they said it was out of mid 70s truck. Are there different resistance values for the senders or something?

The tach would barely wiggle when I revved it and just today rasied to about 400 rpm but doesn't move with actual rpm. It has a HEI in it and the tach worked the first go around. Now the other day i was tinkering under the hood and realzed that the 3-way connector from the dizzy to the cap was all sorts of toasted, the ground wire was even pushed out. I swiped a connector off another HEI I had and put it in, no more problems so far. Could that possibly be related to the tach issue?

Somehow I've got spider webs within the speedo and tach too, so I'll be pulling it apart anyways and can check it then. Sorry for the long post but I figured the more info I can give the better.
