My 68 is no longer mine. I traded it for.....
I know some of y'all are going to think I am crazy, but I am very excited about this! I will be trading my 68 "hot rod truck" project for HuggerCST's 85 GMC short bed:
My first "hot rod" was an 81 Chevy 2wd swb. Of all the vehicles I have owned and sold, I truly miss that one the most, and have been really wanting to get another one. The one thing the 68 gave me though, that the others didn't, was an opportunity to build my metal working skills. I learned more about metal working, AND about these trucks that I love so much by taking the 68 clear down to the bare frame, shortening the frame, hand building a new dash, etc. I am still the proud owner of my Dad's 70 K10, that truck will die in this family. I still have the 68 4wd lwb project truck, and the Blazer. So I'm not going anywhere, I'll just be bugging the folks in the 73-87 forums now too! We will most likely be meeting each other halfway, somewhere south of Wichita, KS in about a month or so. I need to put the truck together on the frame and find allllllllll the parts and get them packed up. As far as plans for the 85, I don't have anything big in mind..... for now. Eventually, I will lower it some, fix a few small rusty spots, repaint, redo the interior, and maybe freshen up the drive train. For now though, I just plan on driving it. The things that need done to it in the short term I can do while driving it. I am pretty stoked right now! And my son is too!
