A/c question on my 72 gmc..........
I don't even know if this can be answered, but maybe someone can send me in the right direction.
I've got a 72 GMC Shortbed Fleetside. It has an A/C Cab and what appears to be all the "original" A/C "Things" (yea I said it) under the hood. The previous owner put in a 1994 Vortec 350 Aluminum Engine..... (serpentine Belt) with an A/C Compressor, but none of its hooked up. Now this is probably a "Next Year" project and I actually have a renown, Hot Rod Mechanic in our County that specialized in OEM and Vintage A/C. I haven't bothered him with questions, because I simply don't have the money now and there are other "Priorities". But some of the questions I have are: 1)Would it be a NIGHTMARE to try and hook up the OEM A/C parts (from 72) with the newer 1994 Compressor ect? 2) If it WERE possible to do #1, would it be outlandishly expensive and just better off to go with an aftermarket "Vintage A/C"? 3)Which unit would be more efficient in cooling the Cab? I know its a far reach without know exactly what I have, but it doesn't cost anything to ask here and there have been ........ SO MANY KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE on this Forum that are either willing to help or have had the same problem. So fire away! Roger
