Motor towers for v6 to small block conversion

So I started my engine swap about 8 years ago and I'm almost done but need some help with the engine towers. the truck is a 68 2wd c20 gmc that started life with a 305 v6, after it spun a bearing me and my dad swaped it for a 351 v6, then that one spun a bearing a few years later. so I decided to swap for a small block. well when I started the swap I was told to toss the towers because I would need the small block towers so I removed them and discarded them along the way. now that I have set the engine in and mounted up the bellhousing I found out that the motor sits back to far for the small block towers (I only have one but it is obvious that it won't work. so the last few days I have been looking around here for answers and as I understand it I need the towers that I originally had (v6) or I need the towers from a 4wd with a small block. So my question is what about I6 towers (230 or 250, not the 292)? I really would like to keep it mounted in the rear holes so I don't have to change drivelines and all the other stuff. so please let me know my options and if I'm on the right track. Thanks in advance
Justin
