67 fun "facts" - I found this interesting
"Facts" is in quotes because I didn't anticipate this nor can I be sure the factory did this...but anyway
I'm building a BB/TH400 3/4 ton 2wd using a 67 frame that was originally a 327/TH400 truck with ram assist power steering. So I had to do the usual frame massage to dimple the front frame horn for the 68-up PS box and trim the upper frame rails for the BB tower mounts. I had anticipated having to drill the hole for the BB/TH400 shift linkage bracket as it is different than the small block version. Yet I found the hole already pre-drilled in the frame so that my BB/TH400 shift linkage lined up as per factory specs. The hole looked factory (as much as a hole can look that way ) Now we all know the BB/TH400 did not exist until 68, and this frame is an original Fremont CA 67 frame. 4x4 frames use a similar auto shift bracket, but no auto 4x4's were made until 1970. What gives? sure surprised me. FYI, there were no holes for the tranny crossmember to move back the 1/2 inch or so, I had to drill them
