Engine Verification

I am new to the forum and not the most computer literate person out there. I just purchased a 1972 Blazer 2WD. It is a "drivable project". I have two questions: 1. I would like to know how to determine if the engine is the original engine. 2. It came with a wore out canvas top, no hard top, so any direction on a canvas replacement or a used hard top would be appriciated.
For those interested, it came from the factory with P/S, P/B, A/C and automatic but it is not a CST, it has the rubber floor mat and does not appear to have ever had a rear seat.

Thanks,
Bill
