Cool 5 lug vs 6 lug

I was needing some input in which direction to take for my 1970 gmc lb 2wd. Iwant to lower the truck 2" all around, still be able to use it as a truck, but upgrade the front brake system for mdrums to discs. I have had some input from people around town on what I could do, but I was woundering if any one else has done the same. Some suggest just lowering it 2" and calling it done. Others suggest finding a 1987 1/2 ton, and swappng the front end, brakes ans suspension as a whole, taking the booster etc. Then I would need the rear alxe to match the five lug. Any info would help, thanks.
