Has anyone Modified their OEM Door Locks?

Hello,

I have looked all over the internet and on this website for someone who has modified their OEM door lock system on a 67-72 Chevy truck.

I hate the factory door lock system where you need to lock the door with the keys from the outside. Push on the door handle, etc.....

I am looking for a standard solution where, someone can push the lock button down on open door. Then, shut the door, without having the door lock, push back up. Is there a way to modify the latch paw or cut something off? Will a newer 1973-80 latch paw work? I am guessing there isn't an easy solution, since I haven't seen any other solutions out there.

I like the OEM door handle look and don't want to shave my door handles. Any input would be appreciated.
