3-speed Tranny Clutch problems ?'s

yesterday, the clutch pivot arm ball stud that mounts the engine sheared off.
I happen to have an old one that isn't quite correct, alittle longer, but same dia. ball. I replaced the ball stud and readjusted the clutch with the truck off and sitting in the driveway.

when i drove it to work this morning the clutch felt fine coming out of the driveway, but i noticed everytime i hit the clutch i had to push the clutch in further and further until the point where i was stomping it into the firewall and still was having problems shifting. this is similar to what happened just before the other one sheared.

i have ordered the correct one from LMC this morning. i am wandering if there are other issues going on here. is this the sign of a clutch going bad or am i missing something?
