Speedometer Question...Tire size

I've got an '05 GMC Sierra that needs new tires. I've tossed around the idea of putting on slightly shorter tires to give the 4.3 a smidge more of a torquey feeling. What is involved in making the speedo read correctly if I do that? In the old days you could just swap out the plastic gear but I have a feeling this one involves computers and such.

Thanks.
