sm465 issues

can someone shed some light on how to position the push rod the goes from the clutch pedal to the z bar?

reason being i swapped in a sm465 into my jimmy and need to know if either i need to drill a hole in the firewall or need to clock the bracket that goes on the end of the clutch pedal( it has splines so maybe i didn't line it up right) so that it lines up with a hole that seems to be original( it had a plate covering it and would line up better with the z bar and push rod)

Ive searched and search but nothing seems to help. this is the only thing holding me up from getting it back on the road

any pics, advice, ideas would be very appreciated!
