Cab trim removal

What be the simplest or best way to remove the trim from the outside of an 80' gmc cab? Most is in pretty good shape so will try to salvage it.

I'm also trying to find out what set of gears are in my 83' 1ton dually. 454, 4-speed, 4x4. Is it located on the axle housing and, if so, where?

Thanks for the help.
