I will make this short as possible.I was installing my motor for the last time in my 69 step,I had 2 criss-crossed chains and grade 8 bolts with my 2 ton cherry picker> iwas lowering the motor and trans together and was very close to the mounts when I saw a wire in the way of the mount,SO not thinking I reached to grab the wire and SNAP one bolt snapped on the head and down came the motor on my middle fingers right hand,my fingers between the motor mount and frame mount, yes all the weight of both on these 2 fingers,as I screamed in the worst pain I ever experienced my wife came out and shoved a floor jack under the pan and raised it to where I got my severely smashed fingers out.A fast trip to ER (she drove) and I spent 2 hours there.Whatever they injected in the fingers gave relief in 30 seconds wow good stuff.A trip to a specialist yesterday said no surgery needed THANK YOU!!!! he said the fingers literally exploded and time will heal.6 weeks off work and possibly 1 year for total recovery.
SO BE SMARTER THAN I WAS.NEVER EVEN FOR 1 SECOND PUT YOUR HAND IN THIS POSITION.I am known for chewing guys out at work for not using jack stands ect.
A close look now shows the grade 8 bolt sheared,it was tight to the block and just a defective bolt apparently.
