How to ID a 2WD Steering Box for x-over use

So after putting a 4" lift on my K5 earlier this year, I'm getting closer to biting the bullet and doing a x-over steering setup on my D44. A fairly expensive piece of this conversion is the 2wd box at ~$200 not including a core.

I got our original family business '55 GMC delivery truck back from my cousin's x-husband over a year ago, literally in baskets, boxes and various forms of dis-assembly. I don't exactly know what the dude had planned for his restoration but he did put on a new GM PS box as seen in this picture:

I plan on returning the '55 to the original box so I won't be using this one anyway. Is it as simple as looking at the sector shaft to ID it?
