Re: FRANKENTRUCK stereo phase I
Yo! No "progress log", but I'll keep posting pics here.
The paper templates are easy to make, and necessary, since I found my two cab corners to be slightly asymetrical. I cut the face of each panel first, cut the speaker holes, then created the second paper templates of the rounded tops while test fitting the faces. Wood blocks glued and screwed (countersunk heads) top and bottom, and then I attached the rounded tops,...again, with countersunk screws and glue. Lots of test fitting and rasping the edges to a taper. Spray adhesive for the fabric (panel face first, let dry, and then carefully wrapping the fabric over the tapered edges onto the back. Brackets are just scrap (test fitting and foil templates make bending easier). With the bench seat fully forward, I was able to drill the two mounting holes in the single layered sheet steel that wraps around the upper and lower portions of the cab corners (do not drill into the truck body). I'll mount the panels first and then install the speakers. Then I go to "phase II",...the dash. More coming. Todd.
