Tripp'n into a v8 world

that never seems to far away...sorry sing'n some godsmack song. Anyway, i am in a rut and desperatly need yalls helps. Here is my senario: My stinkin six doesn't want to run right, i have gradually rebuilt the d@m thing again and it turns out that i have a flat cam because it doesn't stay in timing, at idle it revs high then low. Anyway, I dont want to throw any more money into that money pit sooo...I have decided to just buy a rebuilt 350 to temporary fulfill my performance needs.( I am young and of course want power) I have my caddy sitting in the garage but unfortunately I am really pressed for time to get pumpkin back on the road and i dont have the nesessary (sp?)$2000 to rebuild it since I dont have that sort of knowledge yet. MY question is, what is a good price to pay for a used, running rebuilt chevy 350, 4bbl and where is a good place to look besides a machine shop and the classifieds. THanks in advance.
