Bench Bleeding MC with Proportional Valve

I am finishing up the brake upgrade on my 67 C-10, it’s almost time to install my new MC with a proportional valve. (Installed discs on the front, replaced everything on the rear drum brakes, new brake lines/hoses, and the new MC/prop valve is next). When I bench bleed the new MC, do I remove the prop valve from the MC? The directions show just bench bleeding the MC alone, but they appear to be very general directions.
