VIN Question

I wanted to ask if anyone has run across non matching VIN's on an original truck. The truck has the follwing VIN Info.

Engine Block # V0615TRL
Frame # (just behind the steering box) 72J173407
VIN on Door Jam Plate & Glove Box SPID CKE242J173408

I checked the numbers on the block and the motor is original.

The question is, how common was it that GM stamped wrong numbers?

Thanks, Scott
