New truck finally, couple questions

I finally went and bought a '70 3/4 ton 4x4, It has a 383 with roughly 30000 miles on it since it was rebuilt, and a 350 tranny that seems to shift smoothly. Everything is pretty straight, but has rust on both front fenders, which I am going to buy new fenders to fix. I got it for $2500 which I thought was a decent deal. Runs pretty good. The owner drove it to Arkansas and back last year with out problem.

The problem: after you shut off the motor, it is hard to restart. I have to turn it over for a little while and pump the gas pedal and eventually it starts. Runs good after that. The carb is a new edlebrock. Any ideas?

And the pics:
