New exhaust sounds to poppy like glasspacks

Hi 2 all.hopefully someone will have an answer to my problem.I just installed a set of custom built headers. 1.75" 16g tubing and new 2.5" 16g tubing with delta 40 flowmaster mufflers. The exhaust dumps out the sides behind the back wheels on my longbed. At idle it sounds great.Accellerating it begins sounding very poppy like glass packs. The old exhaust with same flowies sound throaty from idle to top speed.Old exhaust exited the rear of truck and was almost straight tube all the way back. The new exhaust has a u bend over axle then a 90 to exit the sides of the truck. Are the bends causing the poppyness? If not then what might it be?thank you in advance for your help.
