I think the battery was under the seat in the 1953 GMC pickup that my dad had when I was a kid. Don't think that would be a great place for one but also think it could be done if you really wanted to. Some sort of box with a seal and vents should be possible. Motorcycles have the battery tucked up under the seat with a vent hose down under to drain any fumes or excess fluid.

On the frame under the truck would be out of the way but I hope you never need a jumpstart.
