I did this with a 1/2" drill bit and they came off smooth

as for bump stops get a rubber freeze plug ( the temp kind that have a nut you tighen) then take the bolt out of your upper plate and use the freeze plug as a bump stop/plate bolt..I saw a pic of a guy running it and it worked well
as for me I have no bump stops and cupped LCA so my LCA lays flat against the X member..my X is about 1.5" off the ground with stock spindles
