Fuel tank, right vs. left side

I have a 79 GMC with the fuel tank on the right side. Never liked walking around to fill the tank and I really don't want to put the tank in between the frame rails in the back. I'm currently rebuilding my bed and have the opportunity to acquire new bed sides. The bed side I can get now has the filler hole on the driver side and non on the passenger side.

Question: Can I use the hardware I took off the right side (fuel tank, straps, mounting brackets, etc) and use them on the left side? Or, do I have to make a trip to the salvage yard to get the right components.

I know I'll need to re-route the fuel lines etc.

Thanks Mike
