Question, wall to wall rubber floor mat or carpet?

That is my question. I am installing the rubber mat now and it is NO FUN! Won't lay down, won't stay in place and I generally think it is going to look like crap when finally done. Thinking about scrapping the rubber and going with carpet. What are the problems with that? Is there any better that the others or should I stay the course and it will all come out alright with the rubber? I am real frustrated! And hacked! And tired! You get the picture. I need to hear from you guys who have done one or both items in the past. Thanks!
