Thumbs down Rear Air-bag Question

ok guys, have a few questions, i am doing the rear airbags on my '67 SWB, no notch, putting the bag in the stock spring location, heres the problem, the bag studs are too short to get enough threads through the frame & cross member to let the nut bite. Hence the stripped stud, cause i wasnt paying attention.

so i am accessing my options and this is what i have come up with..

1. take out factory cross member brace and run that setup. (any downfall?) would be temporary till i can build the bridge.

2. or just dive in and remove entire cross member and build bridge as i would like to eventually lay frame.

Any comments, suggestions, or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

CM
