Electric Choke

I pretty new to the carb on the 71 Chev I just bought.

It's 1971, C/20, Manual, 350. The guy put an edlebrock preformer 600 on it. It ran pretty good (Idled a little high) before it got cold, but now? Wow. When it is fully warm I can get it to idle around the 600-700rpm range, but when you first start it? The high idle is like 1400-1600 RPM. (And blows some smoke.

Like I said, I have no experience w/ these carbs, my old 69 from high school was a 250 I6 w/ manual choke.

Could my problem be in the thermostat? (When it's warm it runs pretty good), or the linkage? (Doesn't seem to like to kick down unless I rev the engine a little bit).

TIA

By the way, do you folks know a good pic hosting sight so I can get a couple of pics of her up?
