HA HA! Figured out why my truck wouldn't start!
Sheesh man..you'd think you'd find it easier..but I took the LOOONG way around.
First off, it WOULD NOT start...so I thought "Well ok, the starter needs shimming, so I guess it's finally gotten to the point where it is at too much of an angle or something." So I got under and stuck shims in..got back in, and tried to start it. This time, all it did was click. OK, now I KNOW what that means, that means my battery is gone. So, I went down to Sears and had them test my DieHard..tested fine, just was low. So, they charged it and I was on my merry way. On the way home, I figured out why my battery had died, (Brilliant idea!) my ALTERNATOR was shot! So I pulled it off and took it down to Kragen's and had em' test it...sho'nuff', it was SHOT! So, $44 and one 63amp alternator later...I get home, bolt it all together and voila! Even my HEADLIGHTS are brighter! But my starter sounds like it still needs to be shimmed a little more. (I only used a .040 shim...I'm gonna stick the .060 on.)
BTW: I've got an 010 block.
