Question for shavers

I've got an old cab I'm playing around with. I want to learn how to shave drip rails. I am starting on the passenger side at the rear bottom. I don't see any problems welding up the seam where the two panels meet, but do you need to do something with the channel that is left on the inside. I'll attach a pic. The area in question will be to the right of the crack you can see between the panels. Any input appreciated. Got any pics?? Sure would like to see some close ups of rail shaving!
