New guy from NC

Hello all,
I'm new to this forum...again.
I was a member long ago before it was rebuilt and updated.
Sold the C-10 I had at the time, found other interests so on and so forth.
I just acquired a new one, this round is a 1968 Short Step.

A little about me;
I'm a 29 year old sofware tech support rep for a company that caters mostly to the trucking industry. I'm a driving instructor primarily with N.A.S.A. Mid-Atlantic, not the NASA most of you think of. This is the National Auto Sport Association. We go to road courses and host driving schools and road races, mostly at Virginia International Raceway and Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia.

A little about my truck and my current but ever changing plans.
It is a baby blue 1968 C10 Short Stepside. 350 crate motor, 4 speed.
It's a decent daily driver in terms of condition.
Currently it's 6 lug non power drums with truck rally's

Things I know I want to do;
Install my 72 buckets and console from the previous project. I know they aren't correct for the truck, but after looking around I think I like them better.
Four wheel disc and power brakes are high on the list.

I'm a little torn on what to do with the suspension and brakes.
I know there are several vendors on here that offer a great deal of products to help in this.
Being a road racing instructor, I'm a little more particular in the way my vehicles drive, this truck will be no exception.
Part of me wants to just keep it a plain old truck and leave it at that, but the racer in me wants to put a splined sway bar, quick ratio steering box, or even rack in pinion. I know from a design standpoint the a truck in general leaves a lot to be desired, but if the NASCAR guys can fling a 3600 lb car around a road course, I think I can get in the ball park with a C10.

I've also thought of a "what if" NASCAR Craftsman Truck theme.


Anyways I've been enjoying getting back on the site and looking around.
