pressing in bushings

So I am going try my hand at pressing in bushings in my control arms this weekend and I have been doing some reading on this and it looks like I need to notch three tabs into the lower bushings. is this true, and what is the best way to do this, screwdriver, punch? need some pointers. And just a be sure question, these bushings press from the outside in, is that correct? I had my others removed and forgot to take pictures

Chris
